Please join us on Friday, April 24 at 12:00 pm in RSW 183 for a departmental seminar featuring Dr. Lily Hughes from North Carolina State University. Her talk is titled:
“Uncovering Fish Biodiversity Using Genomics Across Ancient and Recent Timescales”
Dr. Hughes’ is the Curator of Ichthyology at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences where she incorporates museum collections into her research. Her research uses genomic tools to investigate patterns of fish biodiversity across both deep evolutionary and contemporary timescales. Her work integrates approaches from evolutionary biology, ecology, and conservation genetics to better understand how fish populations and communities have changed through time. By leveraging modern and ancient DNA, she aims to reconstruct biodiversity patterns, identify cryptic diversity, and inform conservation strategies in the face of environmental change.
Please bring a mug—coffee, tea, and cookies will be provided before and after the seminar.
We look forward to seeing you there!
